the Times of the Gentiles:
Prophetical, Historical and Geographical Evidences
Matthew 24 records parts of a conversation Jesus Christ had with His apostles shortly before He started the events leading to His crucifixion. He prophesied concerning the destruction of Jerusalem and its temple, the scattering of the Jews, and events preceding His Second Coming that would come in the latter days, which would include the gathering of the Jews back to their ancestral home in Jerusalem.
On 7 March 1831 Joseph Smith, Jr. received a revelation, now Section 45 in the Doctrine and Covenants, in which Jesus Christ revealed to Joseph more of His conversation with His Apostles in Jerusalem. He gave much greater detail in chronological order about the events preceding His Second Coming, with prophecies not only about the Jews, their scattering and eventual gathering, but also about the Gentiles and the events that would befall them in the latter days.
More than 190 years have passed since that revelation. Using the lenses of modern history and geography we today can see Christ has fulfilled His prophecies, both with regard to the Jews and to the Gentiles.
This article examines specific parts of Christ’s conversation with His Apostles and then, using historical information and geographical data, verifies the fulfillment of those prophecies that show He has fulfilled them in such a manner that they are evidences for His revealed truths, both ancient and modern.
