Many people wonder and speculate about the location of the Garden of Eden. The prophet Moses did not identify its location in the Book of Genesis in the Old Testament. However, in Genesis 2:8,10-14 he did describe a river watering the garden that "was parted" and "became into four heads", with a description of each "head", three of which are each connected to different "lands." Does one of the tens of thousands of rivers in the world match his description of the river and its four "heads"?
Using Joseph Smith, Jr.'s teaching that the Garden of Eden was in Jackson County, Missouri, USA to limit the search for the river, can modern geographic tools and data confirm both Moses' descriptions and Joseph Smith's teaching?
This article (2nd edition) delves into prophetic scriptures and modern-day teachings and then, using Geographic Information System (GIS) software to analyze modern geographic data, verifies both Moses' descriptions in Genesis and Joseph Smith's teaching, uncovering insights into both that show God prepared them for discovery in our day as evidence for His revealed truths, both ancient and modern.

I enjoyed your article on the rivers and the garden of Eden. Thanks for putting that together. The thing that never sat right with me was the middle eastern names used but your explanation makes perfect sense that the Lord chose those names first and people just reused them.
thanks
